The Rangers have heavy interest in 23 year old Los Angeles Kings center Patrick O’Sullivan. The Kings are looking to make a trade to gain some more salary to meet the cap. O’Sullivan is very talented, he notched 53 points in his second season. A possible trade could include Petr Prucha or maybe Lauri Korpikoski. The Montreal Canadiens are also expressing interest in O’Sullivan.
More to come..
Update
O’Sullivan did not file for arbitration and is a restricted free agent, curious. The Wild who originally trade O’Sullivan are also considered in the running along with the Canadiens and Rangers.
Brendan Shanahan appears to be out of the Rangers plans, rumor has it he is very interested in the Canadiens. Shanny has said before he has always wanted to play with Montreal.
As I suspected Mathieu Schneider is being heavily shopped. Although the Rangers don’t have the cap space for him I would be interested to see if they try to make a play for him. The Panthers, Flyers, Senators, Thrashers, Bruins, and Islanders are interested in him.

Where’d you here about Shanny wanting to go to the Canadiens? I haven’t heard about that rumor. The main one has been that Shanny plans on going to the New Jersey Devils.
The man just bought a $13M apartment in Manhattan 7 months ago. I have a hard time believing he wants to put it up on the market so quickly.

It was on hockeybuzz. eklund. I personally think its a strong possibility. He’s out of the Rangers plans and Montreal has a better shot at a cup than the Devils. Also if Sundin doesnt goto the Habs, Shanny would become a lot more appealing.

Sundin said he won’t go to the Habs. He’s already ruled them out. Then again, he said yesterday that he’s having a hard time making a decision, because he’s weighing the option of possibly retiring. But I think he’s leaning more on the side of coming back another season (somewhere).
I’m not so sure Brendan wants to head out of the NYC area so soon. He’s been talking a lot about how much his family loves being in NYC. It’s safer to say he plans on retiring to NYC when he’s done. W/ Holik and Rolston returning to the Devils, there is speculation that Shanny will also join. The NY Post has practically cited it as a definite. They printed that story on July 1.
Considering all the craziness of the summer with the Rangers, it may be best he goes back home to New Jersey since Sather is stringing him along like I’ve watched him do to countless other players who sit and wait only to find out when it’s almost too late that they don’t have a team and have to scramble at the last minute to find a team that will take them. Case in point: Petr Sykora.

He wont sign with the Devils. Why would he? He’s seen first hand what they have over there, fans included. Montreal is a great hockey town and have a real chance at cup. More so than the Devils. After all of this, he may just flat out retire, who knows.

There is ZERO chance the Kings trade Patrick O’Sullivan just to help meet the cap floor. For one thing, whenever they sign him to a new deal, his cap hit will probably help bump them a lot closer to the floor (along with contracts to other RFAs staying in the fold). If the Kings pick up a pricey contract in a salary dump, they’ll give up little of real value (probably a questionable prospect, late-round draft pick or “future considerations”), and will probably get back something like a draft pick for cleaning up another team’s mess.
Under none of those scenarios does it make one iota of sense for the Kings to trade O’Sullivan. I wouldn’t say he’s untouchable, but you’d have to give up a lot more value than Prucha and Korpikoski. I mean, the latter projects as a second-line forward, whereas O’Sullivan is already playing on the top line, and the age difference is minimal (one year).
But thanks for being like all the Canadian and East Coast blowhards and speculating wildly about robbing the Kings blind in deals that make no sense for the Kings.
Or maybe you’d like to send Girardi, Sanguinetti and Staal our way for Derek Armstrong and Dan Cloutier? That’s about as credible as your O’Sullivan for Prucha/Korpikoski scenario.

Listen asshole, did i say it made sense? no. I’m just reporting it. Thanks for stating the f—— obvious saying that trade makes no sense. Your obviously of very high intelligence. But hey it seems like you guys enjoy getting robbed, the Flames will surely enjoy Cammalleri. Who trades away one of their best players to a division rival?? The Kings don’t have a god damn clue what they’re doing over there. You opened this up. But hey once again thanks for stating the obvious and going on a rant that was completely insignificant. But hey i guess it made you feel smart, even if it was only for a short while.

Wow. Nice comeback there. Maybe if you had bothered to mention you were reporting a rumor heard elsewhere, and offered a link to the source, then you wouldn’t have been blamed for being the messenger. But not providing attribution and not bothering to mention that you think the rumor is ridiculous, like you now claim, merely invites scorn on yourself.
If you think the Kings got robbed getting a mid-first round pick for a free agent-to-be who 1) had one good season, 2) thought he was worth $6 million a year in arbitration a year ago, and 3) was all but certain to test free agency and walk away … well, suffice it to say, you’ve obviously proved yet again that people paying no attention to the Kings know a lot more about them than those who follow them closely.
And another thing. Calgary’s not, as you stated, a “division rival.” They haven’t been since the Smythe Division. Even though they’re in the same conference, it’s not a big deal since the Kings aren’t realistically expecting to be competing with the Flames for a playoff spot this season, and it’s anyone’s guess where Cammalleri ends up as an unrestricted free agent next summer.
See, I don’t need to go on a rant to feel smarter than you. I can just sit back and let you prove my point for me. Thanks!

First and foremost, you have no point. I really don’t know what your point is. I got this from hockeybuzz.com go look for it yourself. It’s also been posted on a number of forums. I’m not being blamed for anything. You clearly have nothing better to do then bitch about a stupid rumor thats old news and clearly is not happening. And yes i do think the Kings got robbed, why trade a proven young player who may be a star only to gamble on a first round pick that most likely is going to be high considering that the Flames are a playoff team. And yes Calgary is a division rival you dumbass, they play in your division. Lets say he becomes an allstar, signs a contract extension. During that time the Kings actually become an NHL team and are competing for a playoff spot, would you then consider them a division rival.
Award for the most ridiculous comments has been awarded to you my friend. I really don’t know what exactly your bitching about, I’m not quite sure you do either. So keep on ranting and raving about some more irrelevant shit you three year old.
When you actually find a point to prove let me know.
