It appears clear that Glenn Sather is going to allow Sean Avery to enter free agency July 1st. WTF? Why?!
The Rangers record without Avery in the lineup combined the last two seasons is significantly under .500.
He makes Brodeur run home crying to Gary Bettman, he takes the opposing teams best player of their game (such as Ilya Kovalchuk 3 seasons ago in the playoffs). So why let him go? All his antics aside on the ice, hes an underrated player, hes a nice playmaker, he forechecks hard and has the ability to finish. Avery is worth the mere $3.5M he wanted a year, but Glenny boy couldnt put his own personal bullshit aside for the better of the team. Awesome.
I’m not trying to bash Sather, I actually do like him and I think he’s done a very nice job since the lockout. I just do not agree with not signing a player the team obviously does need because you have a personal issue with him. Its unprofessional, It’s bullshit, and its “classless” like ‘fatso’ (Marty Brodeur) not shaking Avery’s hand.
